Wind farm developer in breach of planning conditions

Renewable Energy Systems (RES) who recently obtained planning permission to place a test anemometer at the site of the proposed Rotsea wind farm near Cranswick have erected the structure without meeting the conditions placed upon it by the planning authority.

The conditions not met stated:

"No construction shall commence until details of reflective strips to be used on all guy ropes are submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority. This condition is imposed to protect bird conservation interests due to the proximity of the site to SSSI Tophill Low, in accordance with advice from the RSPB"

It is quite shocking to find that RES have flouted this important planning condition and reinforces our view that concern for the local environment, and in particular the many species of bird in this area, are secondary to a preoccupation with profit.

This episode calls into question at least, the competence of the developer and whether they should be entrusted with the future of our environment and precious countryside?

It further illustrates why opposition groups such as Wolds WindFarm Opposition (WWFO) are vital to at least attempt to keep these Wind Farm goldrush developers in check.

We would say to people from all around this area to give us your support because, lets be quite clear, if this first proposal at Rotsea goes ahead you can be sure that the whole area will become swamped by wind farms . You just have to look round the UK at existing developments where village after village, town after town, are becoming surrounded as applications to extend existing wind farms as well as place new ones alongside, flood in, usually on the criteria that the area is already spoiled. Do you really want to see Driffield and surrounding area subjected to this?

Tell us what you think ?
